O’Reilly Automotive, Inc. was founded in 1957 by the O’Reilly family and held its initial public offering (IPO) of common shares on the Nasdaq stock market on April 23, 1993. Shares were first offered at $17.50 and have traded under the ticker “ORLY” since. The O’Reilly family knew that offering stock would enable team members to share in the success of the company, and allow the company to expand and increase its long-standing, incentive-based pay plan.
Since the IPO, the stock has split four times. The most recent split was once again in the interest of team members. CEO Brad Beckham said, “We believe our Team O’Reilly culture is the most critical factor in our company’s historic and future success. We also believe we are at our strongest when our team members participate in the success of our company. This split will make our common stock more accessible to our team members, enabling them to acquire whole shares, rather than fractions, more readily.”
